  • Pan Ocean Remote Sensing Conference (PORSEC) 2016, 3-11 November 2016, Fortaleza, Brazil
  • Pan Ocean Remote Sensing Conference (PORSEC) 2016, 3-11 November 2016, Fortaleza, Brazil

We would like to inform you that the 2016 Pan Ocean Remote Sensing Conference (PORSEC) will be held in Fortaleza, Brazil, on 3-11 November 2016. PORSEC provides an opportunity for the scientists working on various aspects of ocean and atmosphere using remote sensing technology to come together and discuss their results and innovations. This year's Conference theme is: Enabling Earth Observations in Support of Global, Coastal, Ocean and Climate Change Research and Monitoring. The Conference will take place on 8-11 November, preceded with a Capacity Building Student Tutorial on 3-7 November.

Abstracts may be submitted until June 26th, 2016.

    Venue
The conference will take place at the Deputado João Frederico Ferreira Gomes Auditorium (Assembleia Legislativa do Estado do Ceará) in Fortaleza, Brazil. You can find the exact address below:
Av. Pontes Vieira, 2855 - Dionísio Torres
    CEP 60170-041 - Fortaleza - CE
    Brazil

    Abstract submission
There are 8 sessions to which abstracts may be submitted:

    • Session 1: Large and Meso Scale Oceanography
    • Session 2: Coastal Impacts
    • Session 3: New Technologies and Image Processing
    • Session 4: Extreme Events
    • Session 5: Operational Remote Sensing
    • Session 6: Ocean-Atmosphere Interactions
    • Session 7: Remote Sensing Data for Policy Making
    • Session 8: Education and Outreach

Each abstract will be sent to the respective co-chairs of the specified session from the list below. In order to submit an abstract, you will need to pre-register. For the pre-registration no payment will be required, but your registration in PORSEC 2016 will only become effective after payment has been confirmed. There is a limit of five abstracts submitted per author. Each abstract must be assigned to a specific session, and must have a maximum of 3000 characters. No images will be allowed in the abstracts.

    Capacity Building Tutorial
The Capacity Building Student Tutorial will be held on November 3 - 7, 2016. The main conference (November 8 - 11, 2016) and tutorial is being organized by the Earth Observation LABOMAR's Laboratory (EOLlab). Pre-conference tutorials have been a feature of past PORSECs and provide valuable interaction between established researchers and students. Students are given practical examples of remote sensing techniques used for monitoring the ocean-atmosphere system for research and operations. It is also an important opportunity for students to develop their professional network.

There is no additional registration fee for attendance at the tutorial. Participants will be accepted by the Selection and Organizing Committees mainly on the basis of their qualifications and the likely benefit to their research from participation. Applicants should fill out the online form on the link below and send the requested documents via e-mail. The result of the selection process will be sent via email by July 26, 2016. If you have problems accessing the online form, your application can also be made by email, filling out the form below in docx extension and sending it to: This email address is being protected from spambots.
