  • Reminder: IOCCP side event registration and 'SOCAT at 10' festive dinner at ICDC10
  • Reminder: IOCCP side event registration and 'SOCAT at 10' festive dinner at ICDC10

With less than 2 weeks left to the 10th International Carbon Dioxide Conference (ICDC10), we would like to remind you about IOCCP half-day workshop on “Marine Carbon and Biogeochemistry Data Management and Synthesis” which will take place in the afternoon of Wednesday, 23 August 2017, as an official part of the Conference. This exciting side event will highlight the accomplishments, plans and challenges of communities engaged in delivering to and using existing and planned marine carbon and biogeochemistry data products. Moreover, as SOCAT is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, we are happy to invite all SOCAT contributors, users and their travel companions to take part in a 'SOCAT at 10' festive dinner planned for the evening of Wednesday, 23 August 2017, at 19:00.

Please contact the event organizers by 16 August, 16:00 CET, if you'd like to participate: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for the IOCCP side event and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for 'SOCAT at 10' festive dinner. There are limited places available for both events.

The IOCCP side event on "Marine Carbon and Biogeochemistry Data Management and Synthesis" 03nb. IOCCP-color no background

Based on lessons learned during the development of SOCAT and GLODAP, the aim is to discuss (i) the challenges and opportunities related to connecting the carbon and biogeochemistry data currently available from several sources, and (ii) the need to build an integrated access point for several carbon and biogeochemistry data types from various observing platforms (ships, moorings, floats, gliders).

Moreover, the sessions will discuss a pathway towards extending the existing and planned data products beyond primarily carbonate chemistry measurements and into a full scope of biogeochemistry EOVs, which in many cases are measured using novel sensor technology.

The side event is planned for ca. 100 participants and is open to all participants of ICDC10, but extra registration by email is essential. To register, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and provide us with your name and affiliation. Please make sure that you will have an ICDC10 registration valid for the day of the side event.

The side event will include presentations and discussions divided into 5 main theme sessions. Below please find the agenda and a detailed programme for each session.
