We are excited to share that the long-awaited paper "GOOS Essential Ocean Variables: the backbone of a sustained and evolving global ocean observing system" has been published!
This impactful paper, which resulted from very collaborative international effort coordinated by the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), is a significant milestone for our community in advancing global ocean observations.
We want to thank the lead authors, Belén Martín Míguez and Emma Heslop, for their efforts in finalising this publication, congratulate all the co-authors for their contributions, and as the GOOS Biogeochemistry Panel, we would like to recognise extensive input from the biogeochemistry community represented on the author's list by current and former IOCCP members: Veronique Garcon, Adrienne Sutton, Maciej Telszewski, Maria Hood, Kim Currie, Toste Tanhua, and Artur Palacz.
