  • SOCAT version 5 data submission closes on 15 January 2017
  • SOCAT version 5 data submission closes on 15 January 2017

On behalf of the Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas (SOCAT) Team, we would like to remind you that submission of data for SOCAT version 5 ends 15 January 2017, and that Quality control for version 5 ends 31 March 2017.

Are all your surface ocean pCO2 data sets in SOCAT?

The Data Set Viewer (www.socat.info, click on top left button) now allows a search by PI. In the Data Set Viewer, select 'by Metadata', 'by investigator'. Please follow these steps to check whether SOCAT has all your data sets.

Submitting data to SOCAT is easy:
    1) Upload your data and metadata on the SOCAT system. This allows you to preview your data before submission. Ask Karl Smith (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for a login. Data submission to SOCAT will allow you to also submit your original data to CDIAC. This is our preferred option.
    2) Send your data directly to the SOCAT data managers (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and they will upload the data for you.
    3) Submit your data and metadata to CDIAC.

Are you aware of any (historic) data sets missing in SOCAT?
If so, please, contact Benjamin Pfeil (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), Camilla Landa (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or Dorothee Bakker (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Would you like to become a SOCAT quality controller?
If so, contact the regional group lead (preferably; see SOCAT website for list of contacts) or Dorothee Bakker (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

The IOCCP promotes the development of a global network of ocean carbon observations for research through technical coordination and communication services, international agreements on standards and methods, and advocacy and links to the global observing systems.
