  • 2018 Call for SCOR Working Group Proposals
  • 2018 Call for SCOR Working Group Proposals

The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) is now accepting proposals for new SCOR working groups. Proposals are due by 12:00 p.m. UCT on 16 April 2018. Proposals will be posted after that time on the 2018 SCOR annual meeting Website and open to review by national SCOR committees and others until 1 August 2018. Decisions about which proposals will be funded will be made at the annual SCOR meeting on 4-6 September 2018 in Plymouth, UK, and new groups will start in 2019. Please submit your proposals to the This email address is being protected from spambots. Attached please find the pdf2018 Call for SCOR Working Groups.

Each proposal will be evaluated by national SCOR committees in terms of scientific merit and quality, timeliness, and achievability of the proposed terms of reference. National SCOR committees are an important aspect of SCOR's operation and play a key role in reviewing working group proposals and in seeking new funds to support working group activities. In addition, the review of working group proposals is open worldwide to partner organizations and individuals who would like to provide comments.

Annual SCOR meetings are open, but anyone submitting a proposal or included in a proposed working group membership will be asked to leave the room when their proposal is discussed.

SCOR probably will be able to support two new working groups for a start in 2019, pending availability of good proposals that pass SCOR review. Each new group will be provided US$45,000 over a 3-4 year period to conduct its work.

The guidelines, a template, and word limits are available at http://www.scor-int.org/SCOR_WGs_Proposal_Instructions.htm, including a PowerPoint presentation explaining the proposal process.

Please contact Ed Urban, SCOR Executive Director (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), if you have any questions about the process for working group proposals.
