  • Dissertations Symposium in Chemical Oceanography (DISCO XXIX)

    We are pleased to inform you that applications are now being accepted for this year's Dissertations Symposium in Chemical Oceanography (DISCO XXIX) to be held 19-24 October 2024 in Lihue, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi. This symposium is for recent graduates or soon to graduate PhD-level scientists working on chemical oceanography related topic, who are interested in pursuing a career in academia or research laboratories. The attendees will present their research in front of their professional peers and representatives from some of the federal agencies funding chemical oceanographic research, and have the opportunity to forge professional relationships that will facilitate their future research and academic careers.

     

    Applicant Information: Participation in the DISCO symposium is by invitation only. Applicant's dissertation must have been completed after 30 June 2023, or the applicant must provide certification from their Department Chair or Dean that they complete their degree by 1 July 2025. The deadline to apply is 26 April 2024. Applications received by that date will be reviewed by a screen committee and invitations issued by early July 2024.

    The IOCCP promotes the development of a global network of ocean carbon observations for research through technical coordination and communication services, international agreements on standards and methods, and advocacy and links to the global observing systems.
